PITT MEADOWS

                                          2009 Dodge Ball Champions

On February 17, 2009, four schools competed in the "Students That Care" Challenge with Pitt Meadows winning the Dodge Ball title.  The SRT Titans pulled an upset in the Dance competition to win unanimously with six over aged students (staff).   MRSS won the Fundraising contest by collecting $1584.  They will get to display the "STC" Challenge Cup for the next year. Thank you students, teachers, staff and administration for making our "Challenge" a  success.  The four schools combined raised $3,762.03 for children in poverty.

As of July 31/09   Westview amount raised $30,006.40

Students That Care Goals

“Students That Care Society of British Columbia”--Westview Branch is a group of high school students that want to make a difference.  We are challenging all other high schools in British Columbia to join our fight to storm the wall of social injustice and become members of "StC".  Our vision is to have high school teachers and students participating in all areas of social responsibility.  Schools that register can promote their events, publish multi-media material and compete for "Students That Care" Awards.

Westview Branch Goal

Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help build a school in one of the Internally Displaced Person (I.D.P.) camps in northern Uganda. We have two annual events: a "StC" Walk in October and a Dodge Ball Tournament in April with many mini fundraisers organized by our students and staff during the school year.

Childcare International-Kitgum has already built three schools in northern Ugandan I.D.P. camps and now is in the process of erecting a fourth school which will also house kitchen and clinic facilities. The estimated cost at this  time is $80,000.  A total of 8,000 students receive a free education along with two meals daily.  There are 66 more I.D.P. camps that are in need of a school.
